Proper reconstitution of peptides

We supply our peptides in lyophilized, i.e. freeze-dried form, which is resistant to short-term temperature fluctuations, for example during transportation. At room temperature, peptides in powder form remain stable for several weeks. However, it is important to ensure their proper storage in order to maintain the required premium quality.

Before using for research purposes, it is necessary to reconstitute the lyophilized powder, which means creating a solution by mixing the powder with a suitable solvent. Proper reconstitution is crucial for maintaining the efficacy and bioactivity of the peptides, and thus for accurate and reliable results in further research and experiments.


1. Preparation of the environment

As with all research work, absolute sterility and cleanliness are essential when preparing the environment for peptide reconstitution. Before starting the process, wash your hands thoroughly and put on sterile protective clinical gloves and goggles. Make sure you have all the necessary supplies ready:

  • Lyophilized peptide in a glass vial
  • Sterile syringe
  • Solvent (bacteriostatic water)
  • Gloves and safety glasses

Cleanliness and sterility of the environment are very important for accurate research results.


2. Preparation of the peptide and solvent

Choosing the appropriate solvent is a key step in peptide reconstitution and depends on the specific properties of each peptide. At Particle Peptides, we recommend using bacteriostatic water, which is optimal for this process.

Before starting the reconstitution, it is essential to allow the peptide powder and solvent, which have been stored in the freezer, to warm to room temperature. Using cold solvent could disrupt the entire process.

Then, carefully remove the middle part of the metal cap from the vial and thoroughly clean the top with an alcohol swab to ensure sterility. Repeat this procedure when opening the solvent solution.


3. Adding the solvent

When adding the solvent to the lyophilized peptide, precise handling is key. Using a sterile syringe, withdraw the required amount of solvent and slowly inject it into the peptide powder vial, tilted at a 45° angle so that the solution runs down the wall of the vial.

Perform this step carefully to minimize bubble and foam formation, ensuring even peptide dissolution.


4. Storage of Peptide Solutions

Storage of lyophilized peptide powder requires a minimum temperature of +4°C and long-term storage at -20°C or below. Peptide solutions have a limited shelf life.

Freezing aliquots will extend the shelf life of the peptide, with peptide solutions generally stable for 3+ weeks at +4°C and 3-4 months at -20°C. However, avoid repeated freezing and thawing, which can significantly degrade the peptides.
