Epithalon (also spelled Epitalon) is the four-residue peptide Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly, created as a defined synthetic counterpart to epithalamin, a polypeptide preparation obtained from the pineal gland. CAS 307297-39-8, molecular weight 390.35 g·mol⁻¹; the vial holds a lyophilized peptide powder.
Gerontology groups study it in relation to telomerase activity and telomere length in cultured cells, pineal melatonin rhythms and replicative senescence. Studied in vitro and in animal models; no approved clinical application in any jurisdiction.
